BLOG

I wish to share my love of image-making with people, hoping to make a connection with those who recognize something of the texture of their own lives in what they see here.

Event: Group exhibition

Time: February 13 to March 6, 2014

Space: The Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery of Dawson College, Montreal

Watch a video interview with Frank at the Fine Arts Faculty Biennial 11 exhibition.

Heartfelt thanks goes out to Liana Voia (videographer) and Nathalie Olanick (liaison) for organizing video interviews of the Fine Arts Faculty at the grand opening of this exhibition.

Jeremy Zitar, the content strategist and blog specialist for the New York Times, put the letterhead project on his “Worth Reading” list (silencematters.com). As well, the project has been placed on this month’s Top 10 Websites for designers for HOW magazine by art director Adam Ladd. This is very gratifying.

Event: Back to the Future: Letterhead Design of the 1960s

Time: August 22 to September 5, 2013

Space: The Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery of Dawson College, Montreal

Heartfelt thanks go out to S.P.A.C.E. and the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery for supporting the project, as well as to my late father and all the designers with whom he corresponded.

This is an exhibit that I suspect may be greatly enjoyed by designers, artists, and anybody wishing to peek into the 1960s through the letters, letterheads, logos, signatures and personalities of that era. It has and continues to be a fascinating project that I initiated after a large collection of letters and letterheads recently came to light from my late father’s possessions. George Vaitkunas from the Graphic Design Department of Dawson College has written an insightful essay for the exhibition catalogue, Catherine Moleski designed the poster and the catalogue, S.P.A.C.E. has provided valuable support, and Anthony McLean has done some remarkable macro photography of the collection.

Among the designers featured are Paul Rand, Lester Beall, Ladislav Sutnar and Herb Lubalin. In the production of this project, I entered into communication with Archie Boston, Tom Geismar, Seymor Chwast and Milton Glaser (gentlemen all).

What a wonderful experience! Hope to see you all at the grand opening on Aug. 22, 5:30, 2013 at the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery at Dawson College, 4001 De Maisonneuve West, Montreal.
