Event: Future Past exhibition vernissage and book launch
Time: Saturday July 5, 2025, 1 pm - 4:00 pm
Space: Cline House Gallery in Cornwall
The Future Past project is about a physical place as well as a place in the mind, explored through charcoal drawings, photographs, a book and a video. Layers of experience, rooted in what was once known as the Faubourg des Récollets of Montreal (now known as the Cité du Multimédia), are brought to light. Factual documentation is partnered with fictitious reimagining. The book (Future Past: Charcoal drawings and overlapping tales from Montreal’s Faubourg des Récollets) traverses a period of decades from the late 20th century to the present day, and is presented as a series of overlapping texts and images from different times and perspectives. While the inception of this project has a definable birthplace, what grew from it is a reflection of countless places that humans have inhabited through time, connected with, and interiorized. In the face of change and displacement, Future Past offers sanctuary.
